Choosing a Path Type

The paths of a typical GIS design may represent a variety of different types (see Understanding Path Types). When you select a path type, it will apply to all subsequent paths that you construct for the active design until you reset the path type. For offline and template designs, the Normal path type is the only option available.

Path types are selected from the Path Type box on the Design Toolbar of the Design Assistant. The exact names of the paths and the number of paths that are displayed on the Path Type menu will depend on how the database has been configured for a particular installation.

Once you have retrieved path information with the Get Path command, you cannot change the path type for that set of work locations. To draw a different path type, you must remove the path and its work locations using the Undo command and then draw the path again. Make sure you have selected the correct path type from the Path Type menu before choosing the Get Path command. The Normal type is the default setting.

To Choose a Path Type

  1. Open the GIS design in the Design Assistant window.
  2. In the Path Type box of the Design Toolbar, click the type of path that you want to draw in the GIS window.
